They say the world is your oyster

And honestly, it is. If you’re curious enough to find out.

I don’t know about you but I often read reviews on travel sites, place my trust in those reviews and then find it doesn’t meet my expectations. Maybe I’m fussy. Or maybe I just want to find someone who will tell it exactly as it is. No frills, no polishing someone or some venue’s ego.

I’m The Hospitality Boss. I’m obsessed with connecting food-lovers and travellers to meaningful experiences, whilst supporting restaurateurs, hoteliers and tourism organisations to meet the needs and expectations of its customers.

Travelling is the ultimate drug. The more experiences you have, the more addictive it becomes.

As a young child my parents travelled frequently to far flung places and I’ve never forgotten those experiences. The feeling of sunshine on my skin, long walks along coastlines with sparkling seas, landscapes that I’d never seen before; I was fascinated, and I guess that’s where the travel bug came from. Since then, I’ve travelled the world and continued that journey to see and experience as much as I possibly can.

And the love of food? Well, I’m Italian, need I say more?! I’m also very fortunate to be married to Mrs HB who, prior to training as a chef in some top-flight restaurants in Australia, held front of house (FOH) roles in the UK, Australia and Thailand. She shares my passion for offering a quality experience for customers – from the atmosphere and customer service, to the food and drink.

We live a relatively simple life. We’re not an adrenaline junkies. And we’re not here to provide you with a bucket list of things to do, or tell you how to plan your travels. When we travel we want to stay in places that take us away from the daily stresses of home and work. We do our research and aim to experience a high quality of accommodation as well as finding new and different places to eat. Sometimes to our detriment!

Travelling abroad: the good, the bad & the ugly

In an online world where beautiful pictures of too-perfect-to-be-true destinations seem to be the norm, I find it important to show you both sides: the good and the bad, and sometimes the downright ugly. Whether that’s as simple as places to visit and places to avoid in a city, or more serious information such as the downsides of a particular restaurant. I take a no bullshit approach to telling you how it is.

Some of our reviews can be brutal but it’s all with the very good intention of helping the hospitality industry better meet the expectations of its customers. It’s an ecosystem really. We let the venues know where they’re going wrong, and hope they fix things to make it better for the next people who come along.

We hope you enjoy reading the reviews and by all means, get in touch if you’ve got comments or questions!
